“If you’re self-publishing, or starting a new publishing company,
read this book,“ says Robin Quinn.

Robin Quinn Edits New Edition
of the Classic Book on Do-It-Yourself Publishing –
Dan Poynter’s Self-Publishing Manual

(LOS ANGELES – May 2006) Going the traditional route in book publishing can be a frustrating experience for an author. Today, the mainstream publishers are looking more and more for the big books with known authors or authors with an established platform. But visionary Dan Poynter saw years ago that there is another way – and that is the path of self-publishing. And now his best-selling book, The Self-Publishing Manual, is available in an all new edition edited by Word for Word’s very own Robin Quinn.

“I wanted the very best editor for the new edition of ‘The Self-Publishing Manual’ so I took it to Robin Quinn,” says Poynter, who is known as the Father of Self-Publishing.

While publishing your own book may feel like an undoable option, Poynter’s book serves as a step-by-step guide that gets you from an idea to writing to printing to marketing. The appeal of such a resource has led to it selling more than 200,000 copies to date. “This is a crash course in self-publishing that demystifies the whole process,” his publishing company explains.

You’ll find Dan Poynter’s Self-Publishing Manual in bookstores nationwide. “If you’re self-publishing, or starting a new publishing company, read this book,” says Robin Quinn. “I recommend it to all of my book clients, because it answers so many of the questions people have when they’re new to publishing.”

“I’m thrilled that these titles have been recognized in this way,” said Robin Quinn.

4 Awards Turn the Spotlight on

Quinn’s Word for Word Clients

(LOS ANGELES – June 4, 2003)—When three Quinn’s Word for Word clients recently took off from the LA Airport, they took along awards and recognition from last week’s book festivities. Not only did Nancy J. Wasson and Lee Hefner’s Divorced Dads receive The Bill Fisher Award for Best First Book at the Ben Franklin Awards; it also was chosen as Best New Voice in the same awards competition. In addition, Kathy Troutman’s Ten Steps to a Federal Job picked up the Best Career Book Award at the Ben Franklins on Wednesday night, and then went on to receive a Bronze prize in the Career category at the ForeWord Magazine Awards on Friday afternoon.

“I’m thrilled that these titles have been recognized in this way,” said Robin Quinn of Quinn’s Word for Word of Los Angeles. “I believe the awards will help the two books find and help more people.”

Robin Quinn was the Editor of Divorced Dads: 101 Ways to Stay Connected with Your Kids. Quinn says that she took on the project because her own family had been challenged by divorce, and she knew that the book was badly needed. “It was touching during the title’s two book-signings at Book Expo America to see all the parties involved in divorce show up. This included the divorced dads, the ex-wives, the step-moms, girlfriends and friends of divorced dads, children from divorced families, as well as therapists. There’s a lot of healing that needs to be done.” Quinn’s editorial firm also provided proofreading as well as direction for the authors through the publishing process.

For the Ten Steps title, Quinn’s Word for Word supplied Cover Copy, PR writing and Awards Submission work. This book was written by Federal Job Search Guru Kathy Troutman to present a logical approach for dealing with the often-confusing Federal job market. Quinn’s Word for Word of Los Angeles has supplied editorial services (editing, ghostwriting, copywriting, proofreading) since 1991. Other company projects recognized for awards in the past have included The Detox Solution: The Missing Link to Radiant Health, Abundant Energy, Ideal Weight, and Peace of Mind by Patricia Fitzgerald.
